Online Video Platform Porting & Build Infrastructure

Calipso, a web technologies & cloud provider, needed to upgrade their online video platform cluster, as well as the supporting infra and services.

The project required upgrading cluster nodes to RHEL/Rocky9, porting the platform's code from PHP 7.0 to 8.3 and enabling it to work against MariaDB 10. We delivered everything as RPM packages for a reliable, fully-automated, easily-maintainable deployment process.

Ansible Playbooks for Linux Infrastructure Automation

Provisioning and maintaining Linux infrastructure consistently can be complex as environments grow, particularly when servers require different configurations, monitoring, security controls and application services. Manual configuration makes environments harder to reproduce, increases the risk of configuration drift and makes routine maintenance difficult and unpredictable.

We built a modular, production-ready collection of Ansible playbooks and roles to automate the provisioning, configuration and ongoing management of Linux infrastructure. These playbooks automate user creation and configuration, package management, provisioning of web servers, monitoring nodes (Prometheus, AlertManager, Consul and Grafana), hardening and service deployment. Ansible Vault is used to encrypt sensitive data (passwords, API keys, credentials) within the repository without additional external tooling.

Pre-commit hooks and GH Actions are utilised to validate playbook syntax and adhere to best practices, as well as detect hardcoded secrets and prevents credential leaks

Digital Ordering & Payment Platform

Hospitality businesses need to serve customers quickly, while managing orders across tables, kitchens and levels, without introducing unnecessary complexity or additional staff. Traditional ordering often relies on customers queuing at the bar or waiting for service, creating friction for both customers and venues.

Solwork designed and built PLATE, a mobile-first ordering platform that integrates a payment solution directly into the ordering journey. Customers can browse menus, place orders and pay from their table, following an intuitive, rapid, end-to-end ordering & checkout flow. The platform empowers high-volume hospitality venues, processing food and drink orders resulting in annual revenue of over £1,000,000.

Trackz - Application Usage Analytics

Professional services and project-based business units struggle to understand how time is spent across applications and projects. When activity is spread across multiple tools, manual tracking can be time-consuming and lacks the details needed for accurate analysis and billing.

We built Trackz to automatically capture application, process and window activity, recording what was in focus and when. The resulting data can be queried and visualised at a granular level — from time spent in a particular application or project to specific conversations, documents or activities — providing a flexible foundation for time tracking, reporting and analysis.
